Vasco da Gama are weighing a July move for Racing winger Santiago Solari, according to El Crack Deportivo. The Rio club are closely tracking the 28-year-old’s situation.
Solari is an undisputed starter under Gustavo Costas, and Racing, led by executive Diego Milito, are not expected to ease any departure. He is under contract until the end of 2027 and valued at about €3.5 million.
Recent competition from Corinthians faltered, with Olé reporting a formal loan proposal that included an obligation to buy for US$ 2.5 million for 80% of the player’s rights. Racing held out for US$ 4 million to advance talks.
Vasco are assessing whether they can meet that price as they seek a wide attacker to sharpen Renato Gaúcho’s front line. The target profile is for someone to compete immediately for a starting berth.
Solari joined Racing at the start of 2024 and has since made 87 appearances, scoring 14 goals with 12 assists. He played a key role in their Copa Sudamericana win over Cruzeiro at the end of that season.
Born in Arizona, Argentina, he came through Atlanta and Gimnasia y Esgrima before rising to prominence at Defensa y Justicia. He is the brother of forward Pablo Solari.
