Santos advance in talks to sign Michael on loan from Flamengo | OneFootball

Santos have advanced negotiations to sign Michael on loan from Flamengo, with an obligation to buy at the end if targets are met, for a fee around US$ 3 million.

According to Diario Do Peixe, Michael, 29, is under contract at Flamengo until December 2028 and was among those cleared to negotiate this window. A separate issue involves about R$ 2 million in signing-on money tied to a previous board under Marcos Braz, which is being handled between the player's camp and Flamengo without Santos' involvement.

The salary package has been adjusted. He currently earns about R$ 1.3 million a month at Flamengo and has agreed to a reduction to ease the loan and pursue more minutes. The loan would run for one year, and if Santos purchase him, he would sign for a further three seasons.

In 2025, he made 29 appearances under Filipe Luís, scoring two goals and supplying four assists. That limited use contributed to Flamengo accepting negotiations.

Michael has previously played for Goianésia, Goiás, Flamengo and Al-Hilal. His honours include the Campeonato Brasileiro, Copa do Brasil, Recopa Sul-Americana, two Supercopas do Brasil and two Campeonato Carioca titles with Flamengo, plus the Saudi League with Al-Hilal, where he was part of a squad that won 34 matches in a row, a world record.
