Santos agree deal for Lucas Veríssimo, race to complete paperwork on deadline day | OneFootball

Santos have agreed a deal to sign defender Lucas Veríssimo and are racing to register him before the window closes. According to Diario Do Peixe, the 30-year-old has signed with the club and must finalise his termination with Al-Duhail on Tuesday 3 March, with Santos optimistic of completing the move.

Veríssimo is set to sign a three-year contract. Santos are due to pay 4 million dollars to Al-Duhail, with bonuses potentially taking the total to 5 million.

Born in Jundiaí, São Paulo, he came through José Bonifácio and Linense before breaking through at Santos. He made his senior debut in a 1-1 draw with São Bernardo on 30 January 2016 in the Paulista.

He went on to score seven goals in 188 appearances, winning the Copinha in 2013 and the Paulista in 2016, and finishing Copa Libertadores runner-up in 2021.

Santos sold him to Benfica in 2021. He spent 2023 on loan at Corinthians, then joined Al-Duhail permanently the following year and has been on loan at Al-Wakrah, both in Qatar, since.
