Santos have agreed a new five-year contract with goalkeeper João Pedro and are awaiting its registration on the CBF BID this week, according to Diario Do Peixe.

The deal includes salary terms, targets and bonuses already set. The club matched the figures proposed by the player’s representatives and is building a sporting plan around his development.

The intention is for him to be with the first team while keeping minutes at youth level. If Brazão is sold, he would become second choice behind Diógenes, ahead of Rodrigo Falcão. His existing deal ran to April 2027.

Next week he will join Brazil Under-20 for friendlies against Chile. He has been a regular in recent youth call-ups, including March friendlies this year. Last season he impressed at the Under-17 World Cup with penalty saves and won the South American title.

Santos improved his terms with an addendum last September. He turned 18 in March and skipped the Copinha to target senior minutes, while staying sharp with Under-20 games. Standing at two metres, he is yet to make his professional debut but has been listed.

In 2024 he was an unused substitute in Série B, and this year he has been on the bench in the Paulistão, Copa do Brasil and Brasileirão, including matches against Palmeiras, Coritiba, Bahia and Bragantino. Born in March 2008 in Santos, he came through after starting in futsal at Gremetal and has won the Paulista Under-17 in 2024 and Under-20 in 2025.
