Santos confirm signing of defender Lucas Veríssimo until 2028 | OneFootball

Santos have confirmed the signing of defender Lucas Veríssimo on a contract running until 2028 after his exit from Al-Duhail.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the club will pay 4 million euros to the Qatari side, with bonuses that could reach 5 million, after racing to complete the deal in the final moments of the window.

The first instalment is due in December this year, with four annual payments. Santos are now working to register the centre-back on the CBF's BID, and it does not need to be completed on Tuesday 3.

Santos close the January window with six arrivals, Veríssimo, midfielders Gabriel Menino and Christian Oliva, and forwards Rony, Moisés and Gabriel Barbosa.

Veríssimo, 30, is from Jundiaí and came through José Bonifácio and Linense before breaking through at Santos. He made his senior debut in a 1-1 draw with São Bernardo on 30 January 2016 in the Paulista.

He went on to 190 appearances and 7 goals, winning the Copinha in 2013 and the Paulista in 2016, and finishing Libertadores runners-up in 2021. Santos sold him to Benfica in 2021, he spent 2023 on loan at Corinthians, then joined Al-Duhail the following year and had been on loan at Al-Wakrah since.
