Santos drew with Bragantino in the fifth round of the Campeonato Paulista. According to Globo.com, Luan Peres and Adonis Frías stood out in a controlled defensive performance.
Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão had little to do yet produced a decisive intervention when called upon. Right-back Mayke was better than against Guarani but still short in attack, with Adonis covering well.
Luan Peres was among the best on the pitch, composed and strong in the tackle. On the left, Escobar was eager, making some interceptions but offering limited support in attack.
Willian Arão ran the first-half build-up well before being withdrawn at the interval for João Schmidt. Schmidt marked his 100th Santos game with a discreet display. Zé Rafael helped create the best chance before fading after the break.
Robinho Jr. was rarely involved. Gabriel Menino was steady and grew after half-time. Rincón came on late and had little influence.
Miguelito threatened down the left and from set pieces before Rollheiser came on, but the substitute could not add creativity. Gabriel pressed and moved well yet shot over when chances came.
Lautaro Díaz rushed plays and lost the ball, while Mateus Xavier’s solo efforts misfired. Head coach Juan Vojvoda’s first-half plan worked with a physically stretched squad, then Arão’s removal saw midfield control ebb and creation become harder.
