Marcelo Teixeira has rejected talk of an internal crisis and called for unity as Santos endure a poor start.
Santos are winless in six this season, sit 14th in the Campeonato Paulista and opened the Brasileiro with a comeback defeat to Chapecoense. In a social media post, the president framed the moment as part of the club’s reconstruction and asked for backing.
Supporters have criticised head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda and the squad, though most frustration has targeted the hierarchy, notably Teixeira and football executive Alexandre Mattos.
Teixeira set out long-term plans to put the club back on track, citing a Paulista runners-up finish, the 2024 Série B title and last season’s Copa Sul-Americana berth.
He also referenced the SAF process and the Nova Vila Belmiro project, arguing these advances irritate some who try to manufacture crises after a slow start to 2026.
He acknowledged fans’ dissatisfaction and requested a vote of confidence from members and supporters, adding that the rebuild needs time, adjustments and, above all, unity. He said his focus is on strengthening Santos and restoring prominence in a solid, responsible way.
