Santos lost to Chapecoense in the Brasileirão, and Alexis was singled out for a costly defensive display. Globo.com provided the player ratings.
Goalkeeper Gabriel Brazão conceded a penalty after Ítalo dribbled past him, with Alexis failing to cut out the pass in that move. He later hesitated over leaving his line on one of the goals.
Alexis Duarte left Higor Meritão unmarked for the second and did not engage Jean Carlos for the third, while partner Luan Peres was hampered by his display.
Gabriel Menino was bright and scored a superb first-half strike, though he overdid it at times. Igor Vinícius supported well and was involved in the move for the first Santos goal.
Barreal came on from the left and became a major outlet, scoring Santos' second from a Zé Rafael assist. Miguelito was among the standouts, orchestrating attacks before making way late on for Rollheiser.
Lautaro Díaz battled but rarely beat his markers and headed against the bar. Caballero was quiet and skied a clear chance, and debutant Fernando Pradella saw little service. Vini Lira offered thrust going forward but made defensive errors, including losing a duel in the box. Coach Juan Vojvoda again backed criticised forwards Caballero and Lautaro Díaz, who did not repay that faith, and handed Alexis a start that went badly.
