According to Meu Timao, São Paulo’s Public Prosecutor has moved to archive an inquiry into alleged threats and related crimes reported by Romeu Tuma Júnior, president of Corinthians’ Deliberative Council.

Opened in 2024, the probe examined social media posts and messages amid the club’s internal political dispute, and gathered witness statements. Prosecutor Marcio Takeshi Nakada, of the third Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of the Capital, sought the closure, though the victim can appeal and a review remains possible.

Nakada found insufficient evidence of crimes such as threat or incitement. He said the posts formed part of a political dispute and might amount to offences against honour, which require a private complaint from the victim.

Police opened the case in 2024 after Tuma Júnior reported threats, intimidation and attacks online following Council decisions on internal investigations and the impeachment process of Augusto Melo, then club president, who was removed months later. He also reported a phone threat from a caller who said he was a Corinthians supporter and a member of the Primeiro Comando da Capital.

Two witnesses told Civil Police they had professional ties to the club at the time. Washington de Araújo Silva said he coordinated social media during Augusto Melo’s tenure from May 2024 to May 2025. Carlos Eduardo Alves de Oliveira said he briefly worked for Corinthians TV in the same period.

Tuma Júnior named several profiles and influencers, including @TelecoSCCP and @tutamail31, plus Douglas Blasi and former press officer Dayana Barossi. Some users were identified and gave statements, saying they were expressing fan views on club politics.

Prosecutors concluded there were no elements to characterise threat, persecution or incitement, so the inquiry was archived. The decision does not prevent the victim filing a private complaint for offences against honour or pursuing civil damages.
