Rob Edwards oversaw a difficult second half of the season, with the team already rooted to the bottom of the table when he took over in November.

And the Old Gold ultimately decided not to continue with the 43-year-old following their relegation, leading to the appointment of Cesar Peixoto.

The Midlands outfit will be hoping that the Portuguese coach can guide the club back to the top flight at the first attempt.

It is likely to be a busy summer ahead for Wolves, with speculation surrounding a number of key players in their first team squad.

And Peixoto will also want to shape the side to his liking after making the move from Gil Vicente during the off-season.

It has been reported by journalist Philipp Hinze that Sasa Kalajdzic’s future at Wolves will depend on the player’s willingness to take a pay cut.

The forward has previously been linked with a possible move to Schalke this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship.

The Austrian spent last season on loan with LASK, where he contributed six goals and five assists from 23 appearances, helping the team win the league title.

But he is now set to return to Molineux, with his future again up in the air after their 20th place finish.

It’s believed that his £4 million per year salary is causing a stumbling block at the moment, with clubs reluctant to offer that kind of wage for a permanent move.

While this figure is set to decrease slightly due to relegation, it’s understood that it’s not enough to move the needle on a possible exit from Wolves.

So if the 28-year-old wants to leave the English side this summer, then he will likely have to accept a significant pay reduction.

How Wolves fans feel about Sasa Kalajdzic’s future

Wolves fans believe that the club should instead look to keep Kalajdzic in the team for next season.

They have claimed that he could be a good option to have in the team alongside Adam Armstrong and Raul Jimenez, which could help their promotion push.

And the player’s attitude has also been praised, further strengthening the case that he could be a positive force for the squad in the Championship.

Kaladjzic joined Wolves in the 2022 summer transfer window, and has made a total of 13 league appearances for the club in that time.

Sasa Kalajdzic could be an option for Wolves

It has never got going for Kalajdzic at Wolves ever since that early injury he suffered at the start of his time at Molineux.

But the reset of relegation to the Championship could provide him an opportunity to get his career back on track.

If he can prove himself as a key figure under Peixoto, and help the club in their promotion fight, then that could help to generate a stronger market for him next summer.

Given his contract effectively runs until 2028 due to an option in his deal, Wolves stand nothing to lose by integrating him back into the first team if no concrete interest arises in him.
