Inter’s Serie A 2025/26 campaign continues at the MAPEI Stadium, where the Nerazzurri will face Sassuolo on Matchday 24. A matchup that has often delivered intense, high-scoring encounters over the years comes at a moment of strong momentum for Cristian Chivu’s side, who have been consistently impressive away from San Siro as well. In the reverse fixture, Inter claimed a 2-1 win over Sassuolo at San Siro, courtesy of Federico Dimarco’s strike and an own goal by Muharemovic.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

Inter have recorded 11 wins against Sassuolo, with two draws and 10 defeats completing the overall head-to-head record, a balance that underlines how historically challenging the Neroverdi have been. However, recent form favours the Nerazzurri, who have won six of the last nine Serie A meetings between the sides.

The most recent draw in Serie A dates back to 24 June 2020, a thrilling 3-3 at San Siro. Since then, the fixture has produced a winner on every occasion. The match also forms part of Inter’s perfect record against newly promoted teams this season, with five wins from five so far.

THE NERAZZURRI'S CURRENT FORM

The numbers so far reflect a season of the very highest level: across Europe’s top five leagues, no team has recorded more wins or collected more points than Inter: 18 victories and 55 points, a tally matched only by Barcelona. With 52 goals scored, only Bayern Munich and Barcelona have found the net more often.

Defensive solidity remains a hallmark of the Nerazzurri. Twelve clean sheets place Inter among the top three sides in Europe's top five leagues, alongside Arsenal and Como. Away from home, the figures are just as impressive: seven consecutive league wins on the road, with the chance to close in on some of the best away runs in Inter’s history.

Inter are also the most successful away side across the Big Five leagues this season, with nine wins from 11 away matches, and could reach 10 victories in their first 12 Serie A away games for the third time in history. The Nerazzurri strike early and late – highlighted by eight goals scored in the opening 15 minutes – and lead the way for goals scored by substitutes, seven, level with Cagliari.

In terms of game control, Inter are the team that have spent the most minutes in the lead and the fewest minutes trailing, both across the season as a whole and in away matches specifically, further proof of a side firmly in command of its performances.

LAUTARO AND SASSUOLO

With his goal in the most recent game against Cremonese, Lautaro Martínez has equalled Alessandro Altobelli on 128 Serie A goals, moving into fourth place on Inter’s all-time top scorers list. Ahead of him remain only three club legends: Giuseppe Meazza, Benito Lorenzi and Stefano Nyers.

Sassuolo has a special place in the Nerazzurri captain’s career. It was against the Neroverdi that Lautaro made his Serie A debut on 19 August 2018 at the Mapei Stadium, and it was also against them that he scored his first top-flight brace on 20 October 2019. In total, Lautaro has now scored five Serie A goals against Sassuolo.

DIMARCO, ASSIST KING

Federico Dimarco continues to be one of the standout figures of the season. With eight assists, he is the most productive defender in the first 24 Serie A matchdays since the statistic has been officially recorded, and has reached a total matched by very few players in recent league history.

The Nerazzurri wing-back has already set a personal record for goal involvements in a single Serie A season, with 13 contributions in total. In Inter’s history, only Hakimi and Maicon have done better among defenders. Dimarco also leads the way across the top five European leagues for the most chances created.

Against Sassuolo, he has already made an impact twice in Serie A, including in the reverse fixture, and has only scored more league goals against Napoli and Empoli.

ZIELINSKI'S NUMBERS

Sassuolo is the team against which Piotr Zielinski has been most productive in Serie A, contributing to eight goals through a combination of shots and assists, a statistic that highlights the Polish midfielder’s special rapport with the Neroverdi.

Having scored against Pisa and Cremonese, Zielinski could also register a goal in three consecutive Serie A appearances for the first time in his career, adding another milestone to a season that continues to show steady progression.

THE OPPOSITION: SASSUOLO

Sassuolo come into the fixture 11th in Serie A. Fabio Grosso’s side have earned 29 points from 8 wins and 5 draws, scoring 27 goals while conceding 29.

Their recent form has been mixed. In the last five matches, they suffered three defeats against Juventus (0-3), Roma (0-2) and Napoli (0-1), before bouncing back to take six points from the following two games — a narrow win over Cremonese and a 3-1 victory away to Pisa.

Sassuolo are likely to line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Muric in goal, Walukiewicz, Idzes, Muharemovic and Doig managing the defence, Thorstvedt, Matic and Koné holding midfield, and a front three of Berardi, Pinamonti and Laurienté.
