Saudi Arabia are stepping up their attempts to sign Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr., according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri.
Vinicius Jr. had looked to be heading towards the exit door when Xabi Alonso was in charge of the La Liga giants. The Spaniard has since departed, but the Brazil international’s future at Real Madrid remains up in the air amid contract extension talks. Florentino Perez is clear in his desire to retain Vinicius Jr and the club president has personally intervened in an attempt to advance those talks, which are ongoing.
However, there is also interest from Saudi Arabia. Tavolieri understands that a large Saudi business have obtained an exclusive mandate from the player’s entourage to negotiate in his name with the interested clubs within the Gulf State. The Saudi Arabian sports ministry is also involved in the talks. Vinicius Jr. himself is not involved in these talks, although the final decision will, of course, fall to him.
