Saúl is set to report back to Flamengo next week after surgery on his left heel, according to GE. He will continue his rehabilitation at Ninho do Urubu with the club's medical department.

Flamengo face Fluminense on Sunday 25 at 18:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã, in the fourth round of the Campeonato Carioca.

The Spaniard began feeling pain in his heel in the closing weeks of the 2025 campaign. He chose conservative treatment to feature in decisive Libertadores and Brasileirão matches.

After the season, he and the club's medical team opted for surgery. The procedure was performed in Spain, and he has already started work to return to the pitch.

Saúl joined Flamengo in July 2025 on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Atlético de Madrid. He has made 24 appearances and provided two assists, and was involved in the club's Libertadores and Brasileirão title wins.
