Manchester City are close to securing winger Savinho (21) on a new long-term contract, underlining their belief in the Brazilian’s potential, BBC Sport reports.
The 21-year-old joined City from French side Troyes in 2024 for £30.8m and quickly established himself as a squad regular, featuring in 48 matches across all competitions last season. Though he scored just three times, his pace and direct style have made him a valuable option in Pep Guardiola’s attacking rotation.
Savinho has already opened his account for the current campaign, netting in City’s 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Huddersfield on Wednesday. His progress has not gone unnoticed elsewhere, with Tottenham having explored the possibility of signing him during the summer. However, City made it clear they had no intention of selling.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Burnley, Guardiola stressed that refinement in the final third will define the winger’s next stage of development. “For the people up front, it is always about numbers, goals, and assists,” Guardiola said. “Savinho created a lot last season but in the final moment he was sometimes too hectic. Once he improves that, he will be a top-class player.”
City believe Savinho’s versatility, speed and work ethic make him an ideal long-term asset as they continue to build for sustained domestic and European success.
