Roma is looking for a new centre-forward and one of the top names on the club’s shortlist is that of Gianluca Scamacca.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Roman striker has openly expressed his desire to return to the capital, due to the problems he experienced last season with Atalanta, struggling with injuries to his cruciate ligament and thigh.
The new Roma boss, Gian Piero Gasperini, who has already trained him, would be in favour of reuniting with him, and the two apparently spoke about it during a private event.
In any case, the operation is not simple. Atalanta is asking for at least 25 million euros to let the player leave, a significant sum for the Giallorossi.
Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi is evaluating whether to make the move or turn to alternatives.
Scamacca would represent the ideal profile for Roma: young, physical and with a strong bond with the city. The operation is complex, but the player’s desire could push towards a concrete negotiation in the coming weeks.
