Luca Toni believes the Scudetto battle is wide open, but made clear who he considers Inter and Napoli to be the strongest sides in Serie A this season, doubting Milan’s title credentials.

Speaking on the Aura Sport podcast, via FCInterNews, the former striker argued that Inter and Napoli have more quality than Milan, even if the league has often produced surprises.

“Inter and Napoli are much stronger than Milan,” Toni stated firmly while discussing the title race.

However, he quickly added a note of caution based on recent history. “We have seen in recent years many championships won not by the strongest team.”

For Toni, Massimiliano Allegri deserves credit for keeping Milan in contention despite offensive shortcomings.

He pointed to the organisation and balance the coach has restored behind the ball.

“With a solid coach who can get the maximum out of the squad, and who first of all fixed the defence, Milan can wait,” he explained.

The former forward also highlighted the Rossoneri’s current status and potential for growth.

“Milan being top of the table despite a lack of goals from the centre-forward shows they can stay there and wait for the top two to slip,” he concluded.

Toni suggested that consistency, not fireworks, might keep Milan in the Scudetto conversation.

With Inter and Napoli preparing for their head-to-head clash, Toni’s remarks add another layer of narrative to a title race that already looks poised for twists.
