Sebastien Pocognoli has given his press conference ahead of facing Newcastle United.

The Union Saint-Gilloise boss saw his players start their Champions League campaign in great style, winning away at PSV Eindhoven.

Whilst Newcastle United went down 2-1 at home to Barcelona.

However, Sebastien Pocognoli says his team will have to be at 100 per cent against Newcastle United to get a positive result on Wednesday night.

Sebastien Pocognoli press conference ahead of Union Saint-Gilloise v Newcastle United:

“I expect a very physical match.

“We will have to be at 100 per cent and give it everything.

“We will have to be there from the very first second.

“It is the only way to go into a match like this with any ambition.

“We are ambitious but also realistic…

“I am not going to put a percentage on how much of a chance we have [against Newcastle United].

“We simply have to do everything we can.

“We have started well [in the Champions League] and are taking it one match at a time.

“We will see where that takes us.

“It is a real challenge and I am curious to see where we stand in Europe.”

Sebastien Pocognoli and his team have to play their home Champions League matches at Anderlecht’s Lotto Park as their Stade Joseph Marien does not meet UEFA regulations to be able to host Champions League football.

Last season they played their Europa League games at another Brussels ground.

“We have become used to not playing in our own stadium [in European matches].

“Last season we played at the King Baudouin Stadium and that was a bit disappointing.

“Despite that, we had a good campaign.

“Here [at Anderlecht] it is smaller and more convivial and we have a good pitch.

“We are not really playing at home but we are still in Brussels.
