Selma Bacha wore the captain’s armband from the start for the first time on 1 February against PSG, a significant step for the 25-year-old Lyon left-back.
According to Le Progres, in the Parc des Princes dressing room before kick-off, Wendie Renard, who has taken her under her wing since Bacha joined the first team, fastened the armband on her at Bacha’s request.

Bacha said that asking Renard to do it mattered to her because of the sense of passing something on.
She added that everyone knows Renard is an example.
Now facing broader responsibilities, Bacha said she would like, perhaps, to follow in Renard’s footsteps.
