Sergio Ramos has reopened debate at Sevilla by coupling a takeover bid with a proposal to return as a player.
Carrusel reports that Ramos, unattached after leaving Rayados de Monterrey, informed the club he is available to join as a centre-back. Sevilla initially set the idea aside, citing his inactivity and the sporting and financial context.
After the heavy 4-1 defeat to RCD Mallorca, which leaves Sevilla among LaLiga’s most porous teams this season, the option has gained traction in internal talks.
Ramos, 39, has been training alone for weeks and fronts an offer backed by investors linked to the US holding Five Eleven Capital. In January his group filed a letter of intent granting roughly three months of exclusivity while a financial audit is carried out, temporarily blocking rival bids.
The bid could be around 400 million euros, with the final price dependent on due diligence outcomes and negotiations with major shareholders.
His bond with Sevilla runs deep from academy to 2004 debut before Real Madrid, a connection that divides opinion amid the current situation. Club figures have not ruled out signing him, but any move would hinge on LaLiga’s salary limit, freeing a squad place and the club’s structure.
