Serhou Guirassy Snubbed: Brother & agent fires back as CAF final shortlist 2025 triggers controversy
The Confederation of African Football CAF announced its final shortlist for the 2025 African Player of the Year on Sunday but the absence of Serhou Guirassy has triggered fierce backlash from the player’s camp.
The Borussia Dortmund striker who enjoyed one of the most prolific years ever by an African forward in Europe was not included among the final three nominees:
Guirassy’s brother & agent, Karamba Guirassy, publicly blasted CAF’s decision on Instagram calling the shortlist "scandal" and using expletive to underline his frustration.
He argued that the 29 year old forward had done more than enough to earn spot among Africa’s elite in 2025.
