Sevilla are pressing ahead with a move for Patrick Mercado, confident the deal is on track despite Premier League attention.
Talks progressed in January, although the salary cap delayed any arrival. His agent Gonzalo Vargas has indicated a switch to Europe is close. According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea have moved strongly, with Brighton, Bournemouth and Fulham also monitoring.
Sevilla want to act early to avoid a bidding war, and work has been advanced for the summer window. Mercado is under contract with Independiente del Valle until December 2026, but optimism around his signing remains.
Diario AS reports that Sevilla would pay around six million euros to land the Ecuadorian in the next window.
Finalising the transfer depends on freeing salary room, a key step before the agreement can be sealed.
Mercado is a dynamic midfielder with more than 100 senior appearances, 14 goals and 10 assists. He can play as a pivot, central or attacking midfielder, adding runs into the box and composure in build-up.
