It has been a terrible start to the season for the Blades, who have lost all three Championship games under new boss Ruben Selles so far.

Therefore, the club are desperately trying to strengthen the squad ahead of the deadline, and they have done some good recent business, with Ben Godfrey and Japhet Tanganga joining to improve the defence.

Sheffield United keen on Spurs’ Manor Solomon

Now, the focus is on adding more attacking quality, and the Sheffield Star has revealed that Solomon is on the radar of the Yorkshire outfit.

They claim that there is a possibility that the Israeli international could leave Spurs on a temporary basis in the next few days, and they state he has emerged as an ‘option’ for the club, although it is said that there is rival interest in the player, namely from Leicester City.

Solomon has missed pre-season with the Londoners due to a calf injury, and although he is now back in training, he will require time to get up to full fitness.

A left-winger by trade, the Israel international could be an ideal replacement for Gus Hamer, with the Blades understood to be willing to loan him out before the window shuts, so long as there is an obligation to purchase him for between £15-20m involved in any deal.

Manor Solomon would be a statement signing for any Championship club

This would be a no-brainer for Sheffield United, as Solomon has already proven himself in the Championship after starring for Leeds United in the previous campaign when they won the title, with his last-minute goal at Plymouth ensuring the Whites finished top.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk man was one of only two players in the Championship to record double figures in goals and assists, as he scored ten times and registered 12 assists in 39 games.

As well as that, he was a constant threat with his pace, dribbling ability and direct style, so he would be a major asset to Selles, and he would provide the boss with a real attacking outlet.

Of course, this won’t be a straightforward deal to do, and you would imagine there is plenty of interest in Solomon, but the player knows he will need to leave Spurs before the deadline, as he is way down the pecking order under Thomas Frank.

So, a move does feel inevitable, and if Sheffield United can get a deal over the line, it would be a real coup, and it’s the sort of player they should be trying to bring in as they look to recover from their poor start to the campaign and to push for promotion.
