Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed how many tickets are left for their clash with West Bromwich Albion at the end of the season

Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been a great credit to their side amid the South Yorkshire outfit's struggles this season.

The Owls were relegated from the Championship to League One in February, amid their points deductions, following a Steel City Derby defeat to Sheffield United.

Former owner Dejphon Chansiri has left the Hillsborough outfit in administration, but David Storch's Arise consortium are vying to complete their takeover by 1 May.

Should Storch complete his transaction by the start of next month, there will be a special atmosphere when Wednesday host West Bromwich Albion for their final game of the season on 2 May.

The Owls are the only Championship side who have failed to win a single home game this season, which is indicative of their struggles at the bottom of the table.

However, Henrik Pedersen's men did draw 1-1 with Leicester City in their last outing at Hillsborough, which they will hope to build on when they host Charlton Athletic this Saturday.

Wednesday's next home game beyond their clash with the Addicks marks their last fixture of the season, when they welcome West Brom to South Yorkshire.

The Owls revealed via X on Thursday afternoon that fewer than 1,500 tickets remain available in the home areas for the clash with Albion in early May.

Despite the S6 outfit's struggles this term, that news is no surprise, because, as reported by the Sheffield Star, Wednesday supporters have been encouraged to wear Hawaiian fancy dress and bring inflatables to the match, which will create a party atmosphere.

The Hillsborough faithful will be in even more of a celebratory mood if Storch completes his takeover on the eve of the game, which will allow the South Yorkshire outfit to strive towards a better future.

In contrast, West Brom supporters could be in a rotten mood by the time their side clash with Pedersen's men, as a potential points deduction could see them relegated alongside the Owls.

It would be a particularly sorry state of affairs if Leicester and the Baggies both went down with Wednesday, as all three sides relegated to League One would have been handed points deductions, should Albion be issued that punishment.

Henrik Pedersen deserves a sell-out crowd for Sheffield Wednesday vs West Brom

The 2025/26 campaign has been a season which Wednesday supporters will remember for all the wrong reasons.

Firstly, thanks to Chansiri's failure to pay staff and player wages on time before being ousted, several key figures left Hillsborough last summer, including former star player Josh Windass.

The winter transfer window also brought challenges, with Owls legend Barry Bannan joining Millwall, having spent over a decade in S6 before making the switch to the Lions.

But throughout Wednesday's hardship this term, one impressive constant, alongside that of loyal supporters, has been the hard work of boss Pedersen.

The fact that the South Yorkshire club have won just one Championship game in 42 attempts this season is not a glowing endorsement of the 48-year-old's managerial ability.

However, his stewardship in incredibly tough times has undoubtedly been impressive, while he has been forced to work with a squad that is thin on the ground, and lacks experience.

Pedersen deserves to enjoy a positive atmosphere during the last game of the season, and the energy that a sell-out crowd will give his side.
