The Owls have significantly reduced ticket costs following Dejphon Chansiri's exit

Sheffield Wednesday's recently revised ticket prices have certainly got Preston North End supporters talking, with at least 2,400 Lilywhites supporters potentially travelling from the North West to the Steel City for their Hillsborough encounter on November 29th.

The cost of matchday tickets, particularly in the current financial climate, has raised all sorts of debate amongst supporters, with some feeling that they are being priced out of watching their side week-in, week-out.

It has been well-documented that in the Premier League, there is a £30 cap when it comes to the price of away tickets, regardless of the high or low category bracket a fixture is placed within when tickets within the home quarters of a stadium are distributed.

This, of course, doesn't apply to clubs in the Championship, League One or League Two at present, with owners of certain clubs highlighting a need to raise the cost of tickets in order to increase or steadily continue the rate of revenue streams due to a distinct disparity when it comes to money pumped in by television rights holders.

In previous seasons, Wednesday have been one of several clubs criticised for the pricing of tickets in both home and away sections of Hillsborough, with the last home game before the Owls entered administration against Middlesbrough on October 22nd, setting adult Boro supporters back £35.

Whilst selling the club is Begbies Traynor's main priority, the administrative group have since agreed to slash ticket prices, with the 1-1 draw against Norwich City on Bonfire Night reduced to a maximum of £30.

Unsurprisingly, such feats have continued, and Preston fans were the latest set of supporters to welcome the change.

It has been an unexpectedly positive start to the Championship season for Paul Heckingbottom's side, who find themselves firmly in the play-off picture after 15 games played, taking 26 points thus far.

Despite an impressive haul in the opening three months of the campaign, the vast majority of points accrued thus far have come at Deepdale, with North End taking just nine points from their seven away encounters, which includes victories against Derby County and Southampton.

Hillsborough has also been a relatively happy hunting ground for the Lilywhites in recent times, having won two and drawn one of the past three encounters in S6, despite the fact supporters have had to part with rather large sums of cash to attend.

That has all changed ahead of the upcoming meeting, though, with adult tickets costing £30, £20 for over-65s and 17-20 year-olds, £15 for those between 11 and 16, and just £10 for those 10 or younger.

Unsurprisingly, this has been welcomed by supporters, with one stating that it isn't a surprise now Dejphon Chansiri is no longer owner of the Owls.

Another supporter was in complete agreement with such an opinion.

One fan was clearly tempted by such prices, responding with a well-known GIF of boxing promoter, Eddie Hearn.

Unsurprisingly, the aforementioned batch of tickets were snapped up in no time, although the club confirmed to one fan that an extra block had been put on sale on Thursday morning, which will increase what is bound to be a raucous atmosphere.

Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday's upcoming fixtures

The current international pause allows both Henrik Pedersen and Heckingbottom to reflect on mixed starts to the campaign, albeit Wednesday's position at the foot of the table was predicted by many, largely due to on-pitch factors.

However, the Owls' spirits have been raised, if anything, despite their recent 12-point deduction, which has seen them pick up two points in their past three games against Norwich City, West Brom and Southampton.

North End, meanwhile, are brimming with confidence after a run of just two defeats in 10, with a 1-1 draw at Millwall last time out a credible result based on the Lions' recent form.

Ahead of what is set to be an intriguing clash at Hillsborough with an electric atmosphere, both sides have two fixtures to play before then.
