West Brom fans have questioned owner Shilen Patel as their inconsistent start to the season continued with a 2-1 loss at Watford on Wednesday night.
West Brom owner Shilen Patel has come in for criticism from some fans for the club's summer transfer window business as their inconsistent start to the season continued with a 2-1 loss at Watford on Wednesday night.
Ryan Mason’s side went to Vicarage Road knowing they could force their way into the early season play-off spots with a victory, and they were on their way to doing just that when Isaac Price put Albion ahead with another stunning strike in the first half.
However, Imran Louza equalised shortly after, and the Hornets got the win they will feel they merited thanks to a Rocco Vata strike after the interval, with the Baggies unable to respond.
The loss leaves Albion 10th in the table, but the manner of the performances are starting to concern a section of the supporters, as Mason’s side have lacked attacking threat at times this season.
Yet, taking to social media, Patel insisted that better days are ahead, although he acknowledged it was a ‘tough’ night for the Baggies.
“Tough night in a tough week in the toughest league in the world, but we will persevere," Patel wrote.
"Grateful for another evening of support from our dedicated West Brom contingent in the away end, there will be more to cheer for ahead.”
As you would expect, that became a talking point among the fan base, as many responded to Patel to debate his comments.
And, there was a theme among those replying to the owner, with many bemoaning the lack of attacking quality in the squad, with this fan referencing the sale of Tom Fellows, who gave the team pace and a direct threat.
Another supporter felt losing Fellows was a 'critical error' for the Baggies, with his sale to Southampton sanctioned late in the window, meaning some feel it has left the squad a winger short.
Meanwhile, this fan was already looking ahead to the January transfer window, with the group lacking in certain areas.
This fan put the spotlight on Mason, suggesting he hasn't had the desired impact that he wanted now he is a few months into his job.
The players also came in for criticism, with this fan questioning their 'mentality' as they are not hard enough to beat right now.
You can understand why there is plenty of frustration among the West Brom support right now, as they take one step forward and then one step back.
They started well against Watford, and took the lead, but they quickly conceded control of the game, and the reality is that Albion didn't do enough to get a result.
It's not all doom and gloom though, as they have played well under Mason, but they are missing that attacking threat in the final third.
Aune Heggebo has good qualities, but he isn't a goalscorer, and it's hard to disagree with those that are highlighting the loss of Fellows, as he gave them pace and drive that they lack right now.
Ultimately, that can't be changed until January, but there is a lot of football to be played between now and then, so Mason must make a few tweaks to ensure that West Brom
