Shomurodov brace propels Başakşehir up to fifth | OneFootball

Başakşehir beat Gençlerbirliği 3-0 at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu, rising from sixth to fifth in the Süper Lig.

In the ninth minute Eldor Shomurodov finished from the centre of the box after Bertug Ozgur Yildirim's pass. Shomurodov doubled the lead from Yusuf Sari's cut-back (40.), before Yildirim glanced in Sari's cross (42.). Shomurodov is now on 18 league goals, second in the Süper Lig scoring charts.

Muhammed Sengezer was sharp, saving from Ogulcan Ülgün and Sekou Koita as the visitors searched for a response.

After the break, with M'Baye Niang and Adama Traoré introduced, Gençlerbirliği posed more of a threat, but Niang headed wide from close range (64.).

There was a brief first half stoppage for treatment to Thalisson Kelven.
