On La Liga title triumph

Talking about the La Liga title win – his third since making his first-team breakthrough with Barcelona, Gavi remarked:

“Before making my debut, I would have signed up for the chance to win two league titles by the age of 21.”

Regarding the noise coming from Real Madrid and the complaints about referees favouring Barça, with Florentino Perez claiming that the Spanish capital club had many points stolen this season, Gavi said:

“It’s always going to be like that. Everyone knows that people in Madrid will always downplay or belittle our achievements or our titles. So it shouldn’t matter to us.”

On back-to-back title wins

Highlighting the achievement of back-to-back title triumphs with a young squad filled with homegrown players, the midfielder remarked:

“As I say, it’s a huge achievement to win two La Liga titles in a row with so many home-grown players, so many from La Masia, and without many signings.

“In the end, there were very few signings. Other teams have signed lots of players every year, and that’s something to be proud of.”

Gavi also admitted that winning the league title on the day of the Clasico by beating Real Madrid at the Spotify Camp Nou made the triumph much sweeter.

“To be honest, I wanted Madrid to beat Espanyol so we could beat them at our ground and in front of our fans. And that’s how it turned out. Much better for me,” he said.
