SK Beveren have clinched promotion to the Pro League with eight matches remaining after a 4-1 win over sixth-placed Patro, their 10th straight league victory.
According to L'Équipe, Beveren, relegated during the 2020-2021 season, cannot finish outside the top two, which brings automatic promotion. They are 21 points clear of third, who have only 7 games to play. The squad includes Frenchmen Yoni Gomis, on loan from Strasbourg, and Ilyes Nahim, formerly of Caen.
Beveren have 21 wins and 3 draws from 24 rounds and lead the second tier with 66 points.
Second-placed Kortrijk are 15 points behind and, barring an enormous collapse, are unlikely to threaten in the title race.
RWDM Brussels, owned by Eagle, are far back and in financial difficulty. The Brussels club, run by John Textor until his removal from Eagle in January, sit 10th on 28 points from 25 matches.
