Sky: Köln set to sign Benfica youngster Gil Neves | OneFootball

Portuguese U18 international Gil Neves is scheduled to undergo his medical check at Köln on Thursday ahead of a summer move. The 18-year-old is a highly-rated midfielder at Benfica, where he is currently registered in the U23 squad.

According to Sky Sports' report, a six-figure transfer fee has been agreed between the clubs. Benfica will also hold a significant sell-on clause for the future. Once the medical check is completed, Neves will sign a deal until 2029 at the Bundesliga outfit.

Neves, who grew up in Luxembourg, won the U17 Euros last summer with Portugal. Sky also noted he’ll initially play for Köln II in Regionalliga before leaping to first-team football.

The Billy Goats are focusing on promising players this summer as they’re heavily linked with English youngsters Mikey Moore and David Ozoh after completing the permanent transfers of Manchester City duo Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Reigan Heskey.
