The Sky Sports column ‘Jones Knows’ has given some interesting analysis and commentary on what is currently the position at Newcastle United.

The column makes predictions on what will happen at certain Premier League matches and also debates other matters/issues at clubs as well.

However, unlike the usual ex-pro predictions, that are usually simply based on how ‘big’ a club is and whether or not they won the previous game, this one has proper analysis and insight, not lazy assumptions.

The Sky Sports ‘Jones Knows’ column looks at the matches from a betting perspective and has been concentrating on this Newcastle United game at home to Chelsea.

Lewis Jones (who is the Sky Sports expert behind the ‘Jones Knows’ column) has highlighted some major underlying factors that could/should have a big bearing on this Newcastle v Chelsea game.

“Lots being on the line, added to two teams who know how to mix it, means this should be a full-blooded affair.

“They’ve already played one another twice this season and there’s been 15 cards shown in total, so there is spice potential.

“Enzo Fernandez’s price stands out on picking up a booking based on his likely match-up with Bruno Guimaraes in central areas. It’s Brazil vs Argentina in there and Bruno is a foul-drawing master, having been responsible for getting 34 players booked since the start of last season – a huge figure.

“Fernandez’s cards data away from home recently is very appealing too – he’s been carded in six of his last nine away games.

“Jones Knows’ Best Bet: Enzo Fernandez to be carded (2/1 with Sky Bet)”

Interesting analysis, as always, from the Sky Sports expert.

However, whilst he goes into a lot of detail to back up his prediction on lots of yellow cards, especially one for Chelsea’s Fernandez, the Sky Sports man lacking detail when making such a big prediction on what the final score will be.

Chelsea have failed to win in 11 of their last 19 Premier League matches and have only one PL away win since 8 December 2024.

Newcastle have won seven and only lost one of their last nine matches in all competitions. Whilst at St James’ Park in the Premier League, Eddie Howe has seen five home PL wins in a row and in the process, scoring 18 goals.

Whilst Newcastle rarely ever win at Stamford Bridge, the fact is that even in the dark days of Mike Ashley, United have regularly beaten Chelsea at home. Eddie Howe has won all three at SJP against them, United scoring seven goals and conceding only one.

The Sky Sports expert has a history of looking for value and regularly predicting Newcastle United to lose in big Premier League games at home, he forecast Newcastle to lose 2-1 at home to Villa (result was 3-0) on Boxing Day, then to lose again 2-1 at home to Forest (result was 4-3), he then even predicted a comfortable 1-0 Man U away win at SJP last month, a game which ended up 4-1 to United!
