The West Ham board are certainly honouring Julen Lopetegui’s transfer demands ahead of his maiden season in the London Stadium dugout.

While they await the arrivals of Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez and Crysencio Summerville, the Irons are ‘pushing’ to find an agreement with Manchester United for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

As per Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, a verbal agreement is already in place between the 26-year-old and West Ham, with the club ‘confident’ they can hash out the final details and get the deal over the line in the coming days.

Wan-Bissaka is poised to put pen to paper on a contract until 2029, which will see him return to London after five years in Manchester.

One in, one out at Old Trafford

United were keen on sanctioning his exit in order to fund the arrival of Noussair Mazaraoui, who will be a direct replacement for the Englishman. He had fallen in the pecking order due to Diogo Dalot’s resurgent form across the 2023/2024 campaign, and Erik ten Hag had set his sights on a reunion with another ex-Ajax protegee.

However, a selection of the Old Trafford faithful harbour concerns over Mazraoui’s injury record, especially given the unprecedented fitness crisis that struck the squad last term. As well as that, Wan-Bissaka has long been praised for his outstanding one-on-one tackling abilities, leading fans to question whether his potential successor can match such standards.
