A Sky Sports reporter has revealed Enzo Maresca looked “crushed” after Chelsea conceded what turned out to be the winning goal against Aston Villa.
The Blues dominated the first half and lead at the break thanks to a goal from Joao Pedro, but the second half was a different story.
Ollie Watkins came off the bench to score a brace, and Chelsea didn’t register a single shot in the second half as they dropped to fifth in the league.
Maresca was watching the game from the stands after he picked up a touchline ban for a booking in last weekend’s draw to Newcastle.
He would have been pleased with what he saw in the second half, but without doubt disappointed with the second half performance.

Unai Emery made a triple substitution which changed the game, and Chelsea simply didn’t have a response to Villa’s tactical change.
Once Watkins had equalised the game was only going one way, and the England international headed home the winner from a corner in the 83rd minute.
Sky Sports reporter Peter Smith noticed Maresca’s reaction from the press box, and stated the Chelsea boss looked “crushed.”
“Maresca looks absolutely crushed behind us in the press box,” he told Sky Sports.
“The suspended Chelsea head coach can’t believe what he’s seeing.”
Whilst Maresca wasn’t happy with the goals Chelsea conceded, Cole Palmer wasn’t happy to be taken off in the second half.

The England international looked visibly frustrated as he was withdrawn, and Maresca had stated before the game Palmer was ready to play 90 minutes.
However, the Italian insisted he didn’t have an issue with Palmer’s reaction, and the 23-year-old will almost certainly be in the starting line-up for Tuesday’s game against Bournemouth.
