Now that we’re in the first full week of the January window, Manchester United fans are expecting movement around Old Trafford.

More so in terms of outgoings at this stage, though. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee face hugely uncertain futures in M16, with the latter’s agent already in talks with Juventus over a potential mid-season switch.

If either forward leaves, INEOS will have no choice but to acquire another attacking option before the February 3 deadline. It’d leave Ruben Amorim with too few options for the second half of the campaign, during which he’s tasked with making something respectable out of the torrid mess Erik ten Hag left behind.

As well as Zirkzee and Rashford, Antony is attracting a lengthy list of suitors across Europe – primarily in Spain and Greece.

United given plenty of opportunities to sanction Antony’s sale

Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth has today confirmed that ‘a number of clubs’ have ‘made contact’ with United to gauge Antony’s availability. In response, they’ve outlined their stance – they ‘will consider’ any offers that arrive for the outcast Brazilian.

As was the case under Ten Hag in his final term, the winger has continued to play a reduced role since Amorim took the reins. He is yet to start a Premier League game and was an unused substitute for matches against Ipswich Town, Everton, Bournemouth and last night’s draw to Liverpool.

Amorim gave him the nod for his first Europa League clash against Bodø/Glint at the end of November and for the Carabao Cup final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, though Antony has accumulated only 201 minutes worth of action under the new head coach.

Alas, it’s safe to say that United will be getting nowhere near the ludicrous £86 million fee they paid for him back in 2022, but removing his £200k-a-week wages off the books would be one step forward.
