Bodø/Glimt came back from a two-goal disadvantage to 2-2 draw against Slavia Praha in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Kjetil Knutsen’s side will travel back to Norway with their first-ever point in the competition, courtesy of a Sondre Brunstad Fet equaliser.
21-year-old full-back Youssoupha Mbodji shone in Prague despite the late comeback, scoring a brace for the hosts, after signing for the club over the summer.
He had only played one minute for the club in the Czech first division before this game.
Slavia Praha looked very threatening in the opening 15 minutes, with deliveries from Lukás Provod on the right flank proving dangerous.
The Czech side’s captain, Tomáš Holeš, was forced off through injury in the 18th minute and was replaced by Štěpán Chaloupek.
Slavia Praha drew first blood five minutes later when Youssoupha Mbodji connected with a cross from Provod at the back post.
Bodø/Glimt needed a response, and they almost did when attempts from Jens Petter Hauge and Håkon Evjen were saved by Jundřich Staněk shortly after the half-hour mark.
The Norwegian side could not equalise before half-time, as the scoreline remained 1-0 in the hosts’ favour.
Kjetil Knutsen’s Bodø/Glimt were awarded a penalty after Mbodji brought down substitute Daniel Bassi.
Kasper Høgh stepped up to take the penalty, but was denied by Staněk ten minutes into the second half.
Slavia Praha did not relieve Bodø/Glimt of the pressure applied in the first half, despite losing their captain to injury early on.
Mbodji scored again, doubling the hosts’ advantage with 15 minutes left on the clock, after playing just one minute this season in the Czech first division. The 21-year-old signed for Slavia Praha in the summer from FC Vysočina Jihlava for just over £1m.
Minutes later, Bassi netted Bodø/Glimt’s first ever Champions League goal from close range, as the Norwegian side reduced the deficit.
Provod’s strike hit the woodwork in the 82nd minute and surely could have sealed victory in Prague.
However, Sondre Brunstad Fet’s equaliser put Bodø/Glimt on level terms in the dying embers of the game, with 90 minutes on the referee’s watch.
The 28-year-old came on as a substitute, and his shot ricocheted off the crossbar, past Staněk, and across the goal line.
Both sides managed to hang on until the final whistle with an end-to-end finish to the contest, as the game finished 2-2.
