Arne Slot has refused to discuss contract talks between Liverpool and Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The big name trio are all out of contract at the end of the current campaign and will be free to discuss pre-contract agreements with foreign sides in January. Slot has revealed that discussions are ongoing but there has been no public progress on potential extensions.
Alexander-Arnold is a reported transfer target for Real Madrid, where he could link up with England teammate Jude Bellingham, while Saudi Pro League sides are monitoring Salah.
Each have started the season in good form but Slot refused to be pressed when asked for an update. Ahead of facing Aston Villa in the Premier League this evening, Slot said he is part of discussions but suggested decisions will be made as a collective.
“It would be strange if I had no input but I am a head coach now, no longer a manager,” Slot said at his pre-match press conference.
“In general, contract situations are talked about by the people they should be talked about by. I am one of them but I should not talk about this in public. I do talk about this with Richard [Hughes] and that’s the place we have to talk about it – not in front of a microphone.”
