Former Manchester United defender Sonny Aljofree is looking for a new club.
Aljofree joined Manchester United’s first team training in 2022 but spent most of his career out on loan.
The 21-year-old first joined Altrincham for two loan spells, first in 2023 and then in 2024.
He then enjoyed a successful loan spell at Accrington Stanley, where he played regularly. The centre-back played 27 matches and even scored three goals for the League Two side.
Aljofree then joined Notts County on loan last season but could not earn a regular place in the team, making just 11 appearances in total.
As a result, he was recalled in January 2026. This month, it was also revealed that he would be leaving the club on a free owing to the expiry of his contract.
The defender spent a total of 14 years at the club as he came through various ranks of the youth teams at Carrington.
The Mirror report that the centre-back has a host of clubs interested in his services in England.
The paper reports that, “Sonny Aljofree is attracting interest from League One clubs following his departure from Manchester United.”
The article continues, “the 21-year-old central defender is available on a free transfer after 14 years at Old Trafford, where he rose through the ranks and captained the club’s Under-21 team.”
Aljofree has yet to play at League One level, but after an impressive spell with Accrington Stanley, he may back his chances to impress at the slightly higher level of the third division.
The defender has played a total of 38 professional senior games, scoring four goals in total.
