Everton are tracking Stoke City's Sorba Thomas ahead of a potential summer move for the Welsh winger
Stoke City continued their dismal run of form with a 3-1 home defeat to Portsmouth at the weekend, and will be heading to Bristol City on the final day in search of a much-needed three points.
Few sides in the Championship will have had a more disappointing campaign than Stoke.
Of course, the relegated trio of Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester City, and Oxford United certainly find themselves in much more precarious positions than the Potters, though none of those were at any stage fighting at the very top of the league.
When Stoke faced Coventry City at home in November 2025, it was 2nd versus 1st, and that result ultimately began the club's slide down the division, as with just one game to go, they sit in 17th, and could mathematically fall to as low as 19th, although that looks unlikely given Blackburn Rovers' goal difference.
It's set to be a busy summer rebuild for Mark Robins in the Potteries once again, who will be keen to improve on areas of weakness and retain his star assets, something which looks increasingly difficult following the latest news.

By all accounts, Sorba Thomas has been Stoke's best player this season, and it hasn't really been close.
The Welsh winger joined the Potters this summer from League One Huddersfield Town for around £1.5 million, and has hit double digits in the Championship for both goals and assists, whilst winning the club's Player of the Season.
It therefore comes as little surprise that Premier League side Everton are reportedly interested in bringing the 27-year-old to Merseyside this summer, as per Sebastien Vidal via X.
The Toffees are reportedly on the hunt for a new left-winger, with Jack Grealish's loan move from Manchester City unlikely to become permanent, whilst Tyrique George's loan move from Chelsea may well not become a permanent one.
This leaves just Iliman Ndiaye as the only natural left-winger in the squad heading into next campaign, as whilst Tyler Dibling and Dwight McNeil can also operate there if needed, the Senegalese star needs regular and fierce competition, something neither Grealish nor George have been able to provide for one reason or another.
Sebastien Vidal also reports that Stoke have set their asking price at around £15 million, which, given David Moyes' side parted ways with £42 million less than a year ago for Dibling, is not at all an astronomical fee, especially for a homegrown player entering his prime years.
Everton will certainly be able to afford Thomas if they wish to make a move for the Welshman, but will likely face strong competition for his signature.
Fellow top-flight side Bournemouth were reportedly interested in Thomas during the January window, but no deal was ever formally pursued, as the 27-year-old has remained at Stoke until the end of the season.

Robins has come under increased pressure from Stoke supporters as of late after his truly abysmal run of form during the second half of this season.
In fact, only Sheffield Wednesday have picked up fewer points than the Potters across the last 30 games, with their excellent start to the campaign actually the only thing that has kept them up in the end.
Robins will point to injuries as a key factor for their struggles, though he will know better than anyone that his squad once again requires major surgery heading into the summer window.
Thomas has been imperative to the Potters this year, with everything good from their attacks almost always going through the Welshman, putting increased pressure on the winger, as defences will know he is Stoke's danger man.
Robins will be hoping he sticks around in the Potteries for the next campaign, though he will need to ensure Thomas that there will be an improvement in quality throughout the squad, especially in attack, to decrease the emphasis placed upon him.
Where the Welshman's future lies remains to be seen, though with Everton linked, the race for his signature is just beginning, as Stoke face a tough task to retain their star man.
