Manchester City are considering the future of one of their numerous attacking players, with Barcelona emerging as a strong candidate for a move this summer.

That player is Omar Marmoush, who has shown flashes of quality without quite managing to hold down a regular place in Pep Guardiola’s side during his time at the Etihad Stadium.

Sources with ties to the agents industry have now informed me that “City’s management are now reassessing Marmoush’s role in the squad and market value in the event of a potential sale this summer.”

Barcelona lead Omar Marmoush transfer race

My understanding is that Marmoush is not actively pushing to leave Man City, though he is of course keen to get more playing time. It’s possible that he will meet with the club at the end of the season to get a better idea of their plans for him.

Still, most of the people I’ve spoken to suggest that City are open to a sale if the right kind of offer comes along, with their price likely to be in the region of €60-65m.

Barcelona are looking for options to replace Robert Lewandowski this summer, with the veteran Poland international coming towards the end of his contract and expected to officially confirm his departure soon.

Julian Alvarez has long been linked as one leading candidate to replace Lewandowski, though he’ll be too expensive, leading the Catalan giants to seriously consider Marmoush.

There have not yet been any contacts, but Barca are expected to step up their interest soon as it’s become clearer that the Egypt international is likely to become available.

Omar Marmoush could have other suitors

Premier League clubs such as Tottenham and Aston Villa have previously shown an interest in Marmoush, though I can’t currently confirm if they would still be interested in him this summer.
