Gunners finish the season with final-day trip to meet the relegated Saints at St Mary’s
Arsenal conclude their Premier League campaign with a visit to play relegated Southampton on the final day.
After beating Newcastle last time out, the pressure has been lifted on the Gunners ahead of their trip to the south coast as Champions League football for next season has been secured.
Now, there is a scenario where Arsenal do not finish as runners-up to Liverpool. It is highly unlikely but a defeat to the Saints and Manchester City beating Fulham coupled with a nine-goal swing would result in a remarkable final day twist.
Southampton did hold City to a goalless draw in their last home game, gaining a crucial point that prevented them from becoming the joint-worst team in Premier League history.
That said, they will finish the campaign rock-bottom and have very little to play for except professional pride and a chance to claim a big scalp before exiting the top-flight again.
Southampton vs Arsenal is scheduled for a 4pm BST kick-off time today on Sunday May 25, 2025.
The match will take place at St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.
TV channel: In the UK, the game will not be televised live.
Free highlights: The Sky Sports app and YouTube channel will show highlights shortly after the final whistle, with Match of the Day broadcasting on BBC One at 10:30pm BST.
Live blog: You can follow all the action on matchday via Standard Sport’s live blog, with expert analysis from Simon Collings at the ground.
Aaron Ramsdale is in line to face his former club for a second time this season. However, Kyle Walker-Peters has been struggling with an illness and Jan Bednarek and Taylor Harwood-Bellis are both still out for Southampton.
William Saliba and Jurrien Timber have been added to a lengthy Arsenal injury list, with the latter undergoing ankle surgery. Gabriel Magalhaes, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Jesus are still sidelined, too.
Riccardo Calafiori is in line to partner Jakub Kiwior in central defence, while Mikel Merino is available again after serving a one-match suspension last weekend.

The pressure is off Arsenal for a change so that could lead to a more relaxed performance. There is a reason Southampton are going down with one of the lowest points totals in Premier League history and this is a chance to grab some goals.
With David Raya in with a shout of sharing the Golden Glove award, he will be desperate to keep a clean sheet against a Saints side that hasn’t scored in their last three outings.
Arsenal to win, 3-0.
Southampton are somewhat of Arsenal’s bogey team, especially at St Mary’s as they are unbeaten in three of the last four meetings on home soil.
In fact, the Gunners’ win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season was their first in three attempts.
Southampton wins: 23
Arsenal wins: 47
Draws: 27
Southampton to win: 11/1
Arsenal to win: 1/4
Draw: 5/1
