Premier League matchday 25 is over. Again, it turned out to be a disappointing one for Southampton whose ex-star shined, while they lost to Bournemouth at home.

It's that time of the season when the Premier League approaches its decisive stages. Sadly, even then, Southampton's performances aren't bettering off.

Following an elimination by Burnley, the Saints have been thrashed 1-3 by Bournemouth at home. And honestly, now it feels like only the opposition teams keep changing, never the Saints' results.

Still, as if these defeats were nothing, Southampton's fate is such that it never misses a chance to let down the fans further.

Guess what's new? This time ex-Southampton star Charly Alcaraz shines on his debut start for Everton.

Southampton's Premier League misery worsens after former player's recent outing

It's been mere weeks since midfielder Charly Alcaraz returned to the Top Flight, and what we feared has already happened. On a new stint at Everton, Alcaraz seems determined to go one step better in his Premier League journey.

Though having debuted days ago against Liverpool, Charly started his first game yesterday. And man, what a performance the Argentine has delivered for David Moyes' Toffees side.

Up at Selhurst Park, Alcaraz was Everton's best player. Firstly setting up teammate Beto for the go-ahead goal and then striking a match-winning finish, the 26-year-old stood out in the number 10 role.

Now, even if you are a staunch Southampton fan, you would appreciate this Charly performance.

Honestly answer, wouldn't have you loved it if he still represented the Saints? Definitely, you would. Particularly, when the club's attack force had only one name running yesterday, Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Given the midfield flair he brings to the table, Alcaraz could have proved decisive easily once again.

Still, for now, it's just another dream for us Southampton fans.

In reality, prodigy star Mateus Fernandes is the closest option to former star Charly this season. Having stepped up numerous times so far, hopefully, he could very well be our own new Alcaraz in the future.
