Spain dominate as four French make 2026 World Cup team chosen by fans

Fans have named a team of the tournament dominated by Spaniards, with four French players, after a record-breaking 2026 World Cup. According to L'Équipe, 65,000 voters chose a 4-4-2 featuring five Spain players.
The tournament concluded with Spain beating Argentina 1-0 after extra time for a second title. All four semi-finalists are represented, with one Englishman and one Argentinian. France finished fourth after a 4-6 defeat by England in the third-place play-off.
Unai Simon, the tournament’s best goalkeeper, gets the gloves with 50.03%, and conceded only one goal all competition. Cape Verde’s Vozinha was next on 17.22%.
Pedro Porro is the right-back with 62.15%, Marc Cucurella the left-back with 76.19%. At centre-half, Dayot Upamecano, imperious aside from one lapse against Norway, topped polling on 91.1%, partnered by Pau Cubarsi on 60%.
Rodri anchors midfield with 81.12% alongside Adrien Rabiot on 36.44%. Jude Bellingham, 65.02%, and Michael Olise, 61.57%, provide the attacking craft.
Kylian Mbappé leads the line, top scorer with 10 and now the World Cup’s all-time leading marksman, and the most selected on 91.7%. Lionel Messi joins him on 44.01% after scoring eight.
