Spain, the European champions, will face Egypt in a friendly at RCDE Stadium in Cornellà on 31 March. The federation announced the venue in the early hours of Friday after bureaucratic delays.

Spain had planned to meet Mo Salah's side in Qatar, but the war in Iran forced that game to be cancelled. The same applied to the Finalissima against Argentina, which has been replaced by a friendly with Serbia in Villarreal on 27 March.

Arranging the Egypt game proved more complicated due to visa difficulties for the visitors. The RFEF has now unblocked the process, keeping the match at Espanyol's ground.

A stadium in Spain had been sought for days, with the RCDE Stadium the first alternative. The arrangements were completed in time for Luis de la Fuente to name his squad knowing the opponents and venue for Spain's final friendlies before the World Cup squad is announced.

The 31 March fixture, during Holy Week, marks Spain's first game in Catalonia in four years.

Their last visit, also at the RCDE Stadium, was a 2-1 friendly win over Albania on 26 March 2022, with goals from Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres. Before that, Montjuïc hosted a friendly against Peru in 2004.
