It was reported yesterday that Ferran Torres could be a doubt for Barcelona’s final league game against Valencia, owing to discomfort he was feeling ahead of the Real Betis game.

The Spanish international, who is part of Spain’s World Cup squad for the summer, has been suffering with a muscle strain, which ruled him out of the Real Betis game.

Now, as Barcelona approach their final game of the season against Valencia, Ferran’s involvement appears to be a serious doubt.

Barcelona taking no risks

According to Diario SPORT, Torres is carrying a muscle overload in the biceps femoris of his left leg, the same injury that sidelined him against Betis.

The forward watched that game from the stands and will not be pushed to feature against Valencia either.

With the La Liga title already secured and Torres holding a guaranteed place in Luis de la Fuente’s 26-man World Cup squad, there is simply no reason for Barcelona to take any risks.

The club are determined not to repeat the situation that befell Fermin Lopez, who fractured a toe during the Betis match and has since been ruled out of the World Cup.

Flick full of praise

Despite the injury concern, the mood surrounding Torres at the club is overwhelmingly positive.

Hansi Flick has been full of gratitude for the Valencian’s contributions this season, particularly for his willingness to operate as a centre-forward, a position that is not his most natural but one he has embraced with great dedication.

Torres ends the season with 21 goals, which is pretty impressive considering he was not a regular starter.

The focus now turns to the World Cup, where he will be hoping to cap an extraordinary season on the biggest stage of all.
