Although FC Barcelona have faced some challenging years recently, they remain one of the biggest clubs in the world and a highly attractive destination for football talent globally.

Only a select few players are fortunate enough to wear the blue and garnet shirt, yet it is not uncommon to see both established and emerging stars express their admiration for the Catalan side.

The latest to do so is Deportivo de La Coruna’s standout player Yeremay Hernandez. The 22-year-old winger was named the Best Player of LaLiga 2 at the Spanish Footballers Association gala held this week. Speaking to El Chiringuito (h/t Mundo Deportivo) after receiving his award, Yeremay shared his feelings for Barcelona:

“I’m from Dépor. I also like Barça. I’m from Dépor, from Las Palmas… and a little bit Barça too,” he admitted with a laugh when asked about his preference between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.

Yeremay is not only Deportivo de La Coruna’s most promising talent but also one of the most valuable players in LaLiga 2. With a market value of €20 million, he has already made a significant impact this season, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists in 13 appearances while operating as a left winger or attacking midfielder.

His performances have earned praise from under-21 national team coach David Gordo, who called him “pure talent” and a player with the potential to reach the senior national team if he continues to develop at this rate.

“He’s pure talent, a spectacular player. If he keeps working like this, he has the potential for the senior national team.”

Interest in Yeremay Hernandez extends beyond Spain. Last summer, Portuguese club Sporting CP made an offer of €25 million plus €5 million in variables, which Deportivo de La Coruna rejected.

As per the report from MD, the Lisbon side is preparing a new bid despite Yeremay having recently signed a contract extension with Depor until 2030, which includes a €40 million release clause.

Despite the growing attention and his expressed admiration for FC Barcelona, Yeremay remains focused on Depor. His maturity, creativity, and influence on the field have made him the offensive leader of his team and one of the brightest prospects in La Liga HyperMotion.
