Spanish publication make bombshell Joao Pedro claim amid Barcelona interest

Joao Pedro will speak with Xabi Alonso and tell him he wants to leave for Barcelona this summer according to reports.

Chelsea signed Pedro last summer from Brighton in a deal worth up to £60m, and the Brazilian has had a successful first season at Stamford Bridge.

Pedro has scored 20 goals in all competitions, with 15 of those in the Premier League, and was voted Chelsea’s Player of the Season.

Despite impressing this season it wasn’t enough for Pedro to make Brazil’s World Cup squad, with Carlo Ancelotti deciding to leave him out.

The Brazilian’s form hasn’t gone unnoticed, and Pedro is said to be attracting interest from Spanish champions Barcelona, who are looking for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

It’s believed Chelsea have made their stance clear that Pedro isn’t for sale this summer, but El Chiringuito have reported Pedro will speak with Alonso and tell him he wants to leave for Barcelona.

The report adds Barcelona have up to €100m to spend on a striker this summer, and it’ll be interesting to see if they make a move.

Alonso will be desperate to keep hold of his best players, and losing Pedro would be a huge blow before the start of next season.
