Liverpool weighing up Michael Olise pursuit

Liverpool are positioning themselves among Europe’s elite in the chase for Michael Olise, the French winger who has flourished at Bayern Munich. Reports suggest the Reds are prepared to commit more than €100 million next summer, placing them alongside Chelsea and Manchester City in the battle for his signature.

Rising influence in Germany

Olise arrived at Bayern in July 2024 from Crystal Palace for £52 million. His first campaign could hardly have been more emphatic, delivering 20 goals and 23 assists in 55 matches across all competitions. That impact has rolled seamlessly into the new season, with five goals and six assists already from just nine appearances. His numbers underline why Liverpool are considering him as a long-term attacking option, and why Bayern are equally determined to retain him.

Bayern stance on Olise future

Bayern’s response to mounting Premier League interest has been swift. The German champions are intent on protecting one of their crown jewels and are already moving to secure his future on improved terms. Sporting director Max Eberl made that message clear when speaking to Abendzeitung München:

“Michael has already set many exclamation marks in his first season.”

“He’s a player that the fans come to the stadium for, it’s just fun to watch him play football,” said Eberl.

“Olise has over three and a half years left on his contract, and he will increasingly become a decisive factor in FC Bayern’s game and shape the future of this team,” Eberl added, “if it is up to us: the longer, the better.”

What Liverpool must consider

Any attempt by Liverpool to prise Olise away will need to overcome both Bayern’s financial strength and the player’s increasing value. His current deal already delivers an estimated €12 million annually, supplemented by significant bonuses. Should he sign a new agreement, those figures are likely to rise further, strengthening Bayern’s hand.

For Liverpool, who continue to refine their squad under Arne Slot, Olise represents both a challenge and an opportunity. His age, output and style align with the club’s recruitment model. Whether the Anfield hierarchy can tempt him away from Munich is a question that will dominate transfer talk in the months ahead.
