Spurs ‘agree’ deal to appoint next head coach | OneFootball

Spurs have reportedly reached a “verbal agreement” with Igor Tudor to become the club’s next manager following the sacking of Thomas Frank. 

Frank was sacked this week following Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United at home. It was their 11th loss of the season and leaves them just five points above the relegation zone.

Football reporter Matteo Moretto claimed on Friday afternoon that Tottenham were “considering” Tudor for the vacant role, before confirming that talks over a contract were underway.

The Athletic now report that Spurs have “verbally agreed a deal” to install Tudor as their interim head coach until the end of the season.

The former Croatia international is set to join the Lilywhites on a short-term contract that will run until the summer, with no option to make the appointment permanent.

Tudor made 174 appearances for Juventus as a player, winning Serie A twice and helping the club reach the 2003 UEFA Champions League final.

The 47-year-old went into management with Hajduk Split, the first of nine clubs he has managed over the past 13 years. He went on to have spells at Galatasaray, Udinese, Marseille and Lazio before getting the Juventus job last season.

Tudor last seven months in the job before being sacked in October, with the Bianconeri eighth in Serie A following an an eight-match winless run.
