Andy Robertson’s proposed move to Tottenham has stalled, according to reports.
The Athletic say a deal had been agreed for the Scotland international to move to north London, but that it required Liverpool to be able to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma, which they have been unable to do.
It therefore appears that Robertson, who is out of contract with the Reds at the end of the season, will be staying with the club for the time being.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have also suffered a blow in the transfer market with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Rennes have no intention of letting defender Jeremy Jacquet leave in January.
The Blues are said to remain keen on a deal for the summer, though there is also interest from Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
Chelsea have, however, recalled defender Aaron Anselmino from his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund.
Elsewhere, the Athletic are also reporting that Vasco da Gama striker Rayan has travelled to Bournemouth for a medical ahead of a move worth £24.7m plus add-ons.
The 19-year-old is set to sign a five-and-a-half year contract.
Sky Sports say the Cherries have also agreed a deal with Lazio for goalkeeper Christos Mandas.
Sky in Italy report Juventus are keen on a move for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee after a deal for Youssef En Nesyri stalled over the weekend.
Juve are unlikely to move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, though, according to Sky Sports.
They are also reporting that West Ham are close to agreeing a deal to sell Lucas Paqueta to Flamengo.
And finally, Aston Villa are close to completing the signing of striker Tammy Abraham.
