Ledley King says Spurs youngster Luka Vuskovic’s confidence can make him a top player.
The Croatian made his World Cup debut against England last week off the back of an impressive season at Hamburg on loan from Tottenham.
Despite not yet having played a competitive fixture for Spurs, the 19-year-old has attracted interest from Premier League rivals Brighton this summer.
But former Tottenham captain King was full of praise for the young centre-back, speaking at the club’s official kit launch for the 2026/27 season.
“I didn’t get a chance to see too many of the games, but I saw the reports and people were raving about him,” he said. “He’s an exciting young player.
“He looks very confident, it sounds silly for me to say that, but what I look for in a player, but he looks to have that little bit of, I don’t want to call it arrogance, but that confidence in himself, and that tells me that he’s a top player.”

Hayters.com also asked King if Vuskovic will play a big part in De Zerbi’s squad next season amid links of a move away.
“I’m not sure what the situation is at the moment,” he answered. “But obviously every player has an opportunity in pre-season to impress, and you’ll see from there on who gets picked.”
Spurs have brought in three defenders this transfer window already to accompany Vuskovic arriving back from his loan spell. Marco Senesi and Andy Robertson were brought in as free agents, while Spurs signed Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton last week.
King gave his assessment on the new players.
“I think the great thing is that they’re all Premier League proven,” he said. “They understand each and every game, each and every stadium that they’ll be going into, I think that makes a difference, and they’re players of great quality.
“Andy Robertson’s had a tremendous career at Liverpool, winning everything, his experience will be invaluable, and then the two centre-halves are very good ball-players, and I think that’s what all the top teams are looking for, players that can start attacks from the back and make a difference there, and both of them have that.”
