Tottenham starlet produced five-star performance while team-mate hit hat-trick in merciless defeat of Slavia Prague
Tottenham wonderkid Luca Williams-Barnett scored five as Tottenham’s Under-19s routed Slavia Prague 9-1 in the UEFA Youth League.
Williams-Barnett, 17, signed his first professional contract in October, shortly after making his first-team debut with a brief cameo in September’s Carabao Cup defeat of Doncaster Rovers.
Despite his impressive campaign, Williams-Barnett had been somewhat goal-shy in earlier Youth League appearances, finding the back of the net just once in five previous outings.
But he wasted no time in getting on the scoresheet as Spurs hosted Slavia at Hotspur Way, hitting his side’s second of the day after just 21 minutes.
That goal was the only fruit of his first-half labours, but he made it a brace less than three minutes after the break and did not look back, getting the better of Slavia ‘keeper Adam Paar a further three times.
His performance rather overshadowed that of his team-mate Tynan Thompson, who took the lead in the Youth League golden boot race with a hat-trick. James Rowswell’s 84th-minute effort completed Spurs’ scoring on the day.

Both Williams-Barnett and Thompson, who play together in England’s youth teams, will hope to have caught Thomas Frank’s eye with their heroics as they push for more first-team involvement.
Williams-Barnett has been named to Frank’s matchday squad for two Champions League matches this season, for matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco, but he is yet to come off the bench.
Thompson, meanwhile, is yet to make his first-team bow despite also making the bench for the Doncaster match.
Frank has made no secret of his admiration for Williams-Barnett’s talents, saying in September: “He’s been training with us a few times, and we get good info from the academy, so I am well aware of Luca’s talent.
“I like what I see, he’s young, obviously, but his composure and technique and vision is very good.”
He added after the youngster’s debut: “I think it's always a pleasure to be part of a young player's debut. So, yeah, happy with that.
“But one thing is the debut when you're 16. The next step, and much more important, is how Luca or other players take those steps forward. It's very tough to keep going and then get into the first team as a really regular player. But the first step is very important.”
